The course covers basic concepts, models and methods for selected topics in the area of Intelligence, Logistics & Operations:
  • Decision-theoretical basics of business administration (individual decisions regarding security and risk versus multi-person decisions)
  • Introduction to Operations Research
  • Mathematical decision models
  • Linear and integer linear optimization
  • Introduction to production management
  • Batch size and machine occupancy planning
  • Introduction to Logistics Management
  • Location and route planning

Competencies / intended learning achievements

Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to
  • to adequately classify operational decision situations with regard to their formalizability
  • to analyze, structure and formalize fundamental problems of logistics and production management through mathematical models
  • Apply algorithms and understand how they work
  • to modify existing procedures to an appropriate extent for specific problems.
  • independently select the right planning methods and tools and apply them in concrete decision-making situations,
  • to transfer the learned methods to new tasks.
