The lecture will focus on model generation and its use in product development. In detail, the following topics will be covered:
  • Transformation of Industrial Products and Introduction to Smart Product Systems
  • The cross-disciplinary product development process
  • Methods of Virtual Product Development
  • Basics of Computer Aided Design in Mechanical Design (M-CAD)
  • Digital Mock-Up (DMU) and visualization techniques
  • Digital validation and simulation in product development

Competencies / intended learning achievements

Students will be able to:
  • name, characterize and compare methods, IT tools and processes that belong in the domain of computer-aided development,
  • assess IT solutions and methods in the context of virtual product development as essential tools for the respective engineering activities,
  • to give an outlook on current trends in the domain of virtual product development.
