1. Lecture
The students are able to
- plan complex chemical processes and plants using the knowledge acquired from various subdisciplines
- consider technical, economic and environmental aspects
- describe, design and evaluate flow diagrams, equipment (piping, valves, etc.), pumps (static and dynamic), compressors, heat exchangers (pinch, heat integration, networks).
- develop measurement and control concepts (e.g. current sharing)
- explain concepts of plant safety
- prepare cost accounts
- carry out projects in the field of plant design
2. Exercise
The students are able to
- create material balances, flow diagrams, process development, equipment
- design pumps, compressors, blowers and heat exchangers
- carry out analysis of degree of freedom
- select and evaluate pinch, process integration, measurement and control concepts
- perform cost calculations for plant design
- develop concepts for plant safety
