Contents

In the course of the lecture, the fundamentals of construction methods with (continuous) fiber-reinforced composites are taught. These are derived from the material properties, the processing procedures and the model concepts of these composites. One focus of the lecture is to teach the relationship of the construction methods from the boundary conditions of the designed components. Examples of different construction methods are presented and discussed from various application fields. A brief insight into the special requirements of construction methods for crash loads is also given.

Students will be able to
  • name different construction methods using continuous fiber reinforced composites,
  • explain differences and advantages/disadvantages of different construction methods,
  • identify interrelationships of application boundary conditions and selection of appropriate construction methods,
  • select the joining technology required for specific construction methods in a fiber-reinforced composite-compatible manner
