The module is not graded (only study achievements)..

Contents

In the seminars, the four main areas of process engineering, which will accompany you intensively in the further course of studies from the 3rd semester onwards, are explained with the help of exciting examples:
  • Bioprocess Engineering
  • Fluid process engineering
  • Mechanical process engineering
  • Thermodynamic process engineering

Competencies / intended learning achievements

The students
  • know the history of chemical engineering
  • understand the fundamentals of chemical engineering with emphasis on (i) bioprocess engineering, (ii) mechanical, (iii) thermodynamic, and (iv) fluid process engineering
  • are able to reflect the interdisciplinary science of chemical engineering

The BCI - Introductory Seminar in Chemical Engineering provides the basic knowledge of chemical engineering necessary to understand the interdisciplinary science. The module prepares students for the advanced courses in the program that build upon it.

The following competencies are to be acquired:

  • Definition and basic concepts of process engineering
  • Basics of bioprocess engineering
  • Basics of fluid process engineering
  • Basics of mechanical process engineering
  • Basics of thermodynamic process engineering
