    Passing the entrance colloquium, carrying out all experiments in the laboratory and writing a protocol (proof of active participation in the laboratory), weighting 30% colloquium; 70% protocol.

    Depending on the examination regulations, the course work can/must be submitted as graded examination work. In this case the repetition rules of the examination regulations for practical laboratory work apply.

  • Cultivation of a GMO for heterologous expression of a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase
  • Induction of the expression of the target enzyme
  • Purification of monooxygenase using various affinity techniques
  • Characterization of the purified enzyme
  • Basic balancing of the process
  • Simulation and scaling of the process

Competencies / intended learning achievements

The students are able
  • to explain basic principles of heterologous expression of proteins, biotechnological processes independently,
  • to apply affinity techniques for the purification of recombinant proteins,
  • to perform process simulation
  • to present and discuss their results in the laboratory group
  • to present their results in the form of an experimental protocol and discuss them in detail
