  • Overview of joining methods according to DIN 8593
  • Assembling, joining by filling, press fitting, joining by casting, welding, soldering an brazing, adhesive bonding, textile joining
  • Application in industrial production and process-specific production equipment
  • Process parameters and technical preconditions
  • Selection criteria and methods of quality assurance in joining

Competencies / intended learning achievements

Students will be able to
  • achieve basic knowledge as well as evaluation and selection competence concerning contemporary joining techniques in industrial manufacturing
  • systematically select joining techniques according to DIN 8593
  • understand fundamental mechanisms of different joining technologies
  • apply joining processes in industrial production and to select process-specific production equipment
  • master process- and material-specific requirements
  • understand selection criteria and methods of quality assurance in joining
