- About [MAT-14-KPOOL-3]: Title: "Practical Mathematics (B.Sc. Mathematics)";
- About [MAT-14-KPOOL-3]: A course from the course pool must be selected.
- About [MAT-14-KPOOL-3]: The study achievement [U-Schein] proof of successful participation in the exercise classes (ungraded) must be obtained.
Examination achievement PL1
- Form of examination: oral examination (20-30 Min.)
- Examination Frequency: each semester
- Examination number: 82077
("Module Exam Applied Mathematics B")
It is generally possible to give the module examination PL1 to a different course than the required study achievements (proof(s) of successful participation in the exercise classes). This requires that none of the courses involved has already been included in another module.
Evaluation of grades
The grade of the module examination is also the module grade.
Contents
Introduction to a further area of practical/applied mathematics of choice from:
- numerical methods,
- stochastic methods,
- linear and network programming,
- symbolic computing
or another area of practical/applied mathematics.
Competencies / intended learning achievements
Building on the knowledge acquired in the first year, the students have acquired basic theoretical and practical knowledge in a further area of practical/applied mathematics. In doing so, they have learned in an exemplary way how problems from science and technology can be processed and solved using mathematical methods.
In the exercises classes, the students have acquired a confident, precise and independent handling of the terms, propositions and methods from the lectures. The practical implementation of the algorithms was learned in parallel within the framework of programming projects (see module [MAT-14-00-M-3]).
Literature
see the respective course description.
Registration
Registration for the exercise classes via the online administration system URM (https://urm.mathematik.uni-kl.de).
Requirements for attendance (informal)
Modules:
Requirements for attendance (formal)
Proof of successful participation in the exercise classes of "Fundamentals of Mathematics I" or "Fundamentals of Mathematics II" (e.g. from the module [MAT-10-1-M-2] Fundamentals of Mathematics) is prerequisite for participation in the module examination.
