  • data transmission and network technologies in industry
  • selected modelling methods of digital production processes (event-discrete processes, entity-relationship models, object-oriented modelling, ontologies)
  • Modelling languages for digital production processes (UML, SysML, AutomationML, PackML)
  • Cyber-physical production systems (self-description capability of production modules, production-as-a-service, plug-and-produce, virtual object memory, self-control of production with batch size 1
  • Industrie 4.0 reference architecture RAMI 4.0 and administration shell
  • Overview of distributed systems for the integration of industrial artificial intelligence processes (edge, cloud).

Competencies / intended learning achievements

Upon successful completion of the module, students will

be able to,

  • explain the principles of architectures and applications of IT systems in industrial production
  • understand the methods and procedures for the analysis, modelling and synthesis of digital production processes and explain and apply them to real examples
  • explain methods of digital production technology in in different industrial domains and apply them to to real examples
  • explain specific requirements for the integration of software and industrial standards in the Industry 4.0 environment and to describe and explain them
