  • communication technologies (e.g., CAN, FlexRay, WLAN, ZigBee, WirelessHART)
  • Timing synchronization (Reference Broadcasts, Black Burst Synchronization etc.)
  • quality of service (QoS specification, QoS provision, QoS control, QoS management)
  • routing in ad hoc networks (best effort/QoS)

Competencies / intended learning achievements

After successfully completing of the module, students will be able to
  • explain the tasks, structure and mode of operation of special communication systems and their areas of application using concrete examples,
  • use suitable criteria for the evaluation and selection of specialized communication technologies,
  • explain essential aspects and procedures of time synchronization in wireless networks
  • explain essential aspects of the concept of network quality of service,
  • explain essential aspects of the assessment of quality-of-service routing procedures
  • identify suitable system approaches and justify their use in accordance with the situation,
  • justify the requirements for the use of distributed systems
