Contents

  • Building services engineering is an important and integral part of the building process. It is essential for the functioning and design of a building due to the increasing complexity and dependencies between architecture and technology and the importance of resource-saving constructions. For this reason, it is becoming increasingly important for architects not only to perform coordinating tasks but also to actively influence the choice and integration of technical installations.
  • The aim of the lecture is to learn the basics of energy supply as well as heating, ventilation and sanitary engineering. After learning the basics, students should develop their first ideas for technical solutions for their own project.

Students who successfully complete this module can

  • carry out heating load calculations and dimension heating systems
  • design central ventilation systems and ventilation duct systems
  • dimension drinking water pipes, rainwater pipelines and drain lines
  • choose energy supply systems for buildings appropriately
  • apply the basics of planning of building services installations in a first design example
