Evaluation of grades

All partial module examinations have to be passed. The module grade is the weighted average of the partial examination grades according to the following weights:

Bauphysik I + II: 50%

Tragwerk und Material II: 50%


Contents

  • Description of the basic concepts and fundamental connections of thermal insulation, moisture protection and sound insulation
  • For a) Temperature, steady-state and in part unsteady-state heat transfer; thermal bridges; heat balance calculation for buildings, thermal insulation in winter and summer, basic concepts and methodology of the Energy Saving Ordinance; comfort
  • For c) Water vapour diffusion; water vapour diffusion in single and multi-layer components, the formation of condensation water, condensation water protection and measures to prevent mould,

the basic principles of acoustics, room acoustics and sound propagation as well as sound insulation in building construction,

practical examples of building physics structural damage and procedures of analysis and renovation

  • For b) and d): consolidation of the lecture contents using practical examples

Construction and material II:

  • deepened structural design of plane and spatial supporting structures such as arch structures, cable structures, trusses and three-dimensional supporting structures
  • designing appropriately for the material involved in solid construction, steel construction and timber construction is shown
  • the constructive design of supporting structures with truss models

Desired learning outcomes:

Building physics I & II:

Students who successfully complete this module will be able to,

  • Draw conclusions from their own design work using their understanding of structural-physical connections

They have:

  • an understanding of fundamental structural-physical relationships and processes
  • knowledge about the appropriate choice and use of construction materials and building constructions with regard to structural-physical requirements
  • the knowledge to identify structural-physical sensitive or critical constructions

Students know the basic principles of calculation methods according to the current rules and standards (especially EnEV Energy Saving Ordinance and DIN 4109)

Construction and material II:

Students who successfully complete this module will be able to,

  • evaluate and analyse bearing structures
  • base their designs of structurally functional supporting structures on knowledge and design appropriately for the material involved
  • design structure nodes appropriate for the material involved
  • use hybrid supporting structures purposefully in constructions
