Modules amounting to 22 CP are to be chosen from the competence field modules of the bachelor's programme in mechanical engineering. If modules from the field of fundamentals are required as prerequisites for the competence field modules, these can also be selected (see the Bachelor examination regulations of the Department of Mechanical Engineering).

The following fields of competence are offered:

• Product Development
• Automotive engineering
• Materials science and materials engineering
• Production engineering
• Computational Engineering
• Applied computer science

In addition, with the approval of the departmental student advisor of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (MV), modules from the compulsory and/or optional compulsory modules can be selected from a maximum of two of the following six Master's programmes (and the prerequisite Bachelor's modules, see the Departmental Module Handbook MV).
