This lecture gives an overview of the management field “Nonprofit Organizations” and embeds their actions in the 2030 Agenda. Students get to know the 17 sustainable development goals as well as the characteristics and peculiarities of nonprofit organizations and how they differ from social enterprises. In the course of the lecture, various challenges in the management of nonprofit organizations will be discussed, including those relating to: human resource management, governance, marketing, non-profit law and financing. The importance and different forms of nonprofit partnerships are also highlighted and a bridge to sustainability management in companies is built through the corporate citizenship mix.

Students will learn
- backgrounds, contexts and problem areas of nonprofit management as well as the importance of nonprofit organizations in achieving sustainable development goals.
- to compare essential results of research on nonprofit organizations with practical founding.
- to assess and evaluate challenges that nonprofit organizations must face.
