Contents

Das Seminar hat das Ziel, die Rolle von Parteien in westlichen Demokratien aus vergleichender Perspektive zu analysieren. Hierzu werden in einem ersten Teil die zentralen Erklärungsansätze für die Entstehung von Parteien thematisiert und die sich daraus ergebenden Parteiensysteme diskutiert. Der zweite Teil des Seminars richtet seinen Fokus auf die innerparteilichen Entscheidungsprozesse und die politische Soziologie von Parteien (und ihren Mitgliedern). Schließlich wenden wir den Blick im dritten Teil auf die Wirkung von Parteien auf Public Policies und gehen der Frage nach, inwiefern sich Unterschiede in den ideologischen Ausrichtungen von Parteien in tatsächlicher Politik niederschlagen.

Das Seminar hat einen klar empirisch-analytischen Fokus, weshalb Grundkenntnisse der empirischen Sozialforschung vorteilhaft sind.
