This lecture gives an insight into the management and organization of development and design departments and their work.
Competencies / intended learning achievements
1. Lecture
Students will be able to
- reproduce contents of product documentation.
- explain and to classify different organizational structures of technical companies.
- reproduce essential contents and instruments of the project management.
- reproduce essential contents and instruments of the cost management.
- explain approaches to rationalization in the design process.
- reproduce tools for standardization and modularization.
- describe measures for quality assurance.
2. Exercise
Students will be able to
- implement the topics covered in the lecture into practice using application examples and explain them to the exercise group.
- work out different types of bill of materials for technical products.
- plan the time sequence of projects in a GANTT plan.
- plan the logical and time dependencies within a project in a PERT plan.
- apply a milestone trend analysis and an ABC analysis.
- analyze functional costs of a technical system using a functional cost matrix.
- analyze technical systems using a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and a Fault Tree Analysis.
