Competencies / intended learning achievements
- Subject matter expertise:
In this lecture, a basic knowlegde of laser-based additive manufacturing of metallic materials is imparted. However, the focus of this seminar is the interellation of the microstrcuture and the mechanical properties of additively manufactured metals. Moreover, the influence of the parameters of additive manufacturing process as well as post-processing on the microstructure and the mechanical properties will be discussed. On this basis, the main challenges of additive manufacturing of metals will be defined and their relation with the fatigue behavior will be analyzed.
- Methodical expertise:
The students should gain a sound knowledge of the interelation between the process parameters and the properties of additively manufactured metals. This knowledge should enable the ability to define the parameters of additive manufacturing as well as post processes on the basis of desired changes of microstructure and mechanical properties.
