Clausius-Rankine cycle, gas and steam process, energy conversion in steam turbines, design of steam turbines, Joule process, stationary steam turbines, aeroderivatives, aircraft engines, control and operation of turbines, design of gas turbines, turbine blade cooling.
Competencies / intended learning achievements
The students will be able:
- to understand thermodynamic cycles of steam and gas turbines
- to describe and assess the energy conversion in steam and gas turbines
- to understand the flow in steam and gas turbines
- to assess the operating behavior of steam and gas turbines
- to understand specific problems, e.g. turbine blade cooling
