  • General basics: conveyor auxiliaries, encoding, and identification
  • Drive technology of continuous conveyors: classification, mechanical conveyors with traction mechanism, mechanical conveyors without traction mechanism, pneumatic conveyors
  • Non-continuous conveyors: classification, non-continuous floor conveyors, non-continuous overhead conveyors, automatic guided vehicles (AGV)
  • Warehouse systems: classification, floor storage, rack storage
  • Warehouse systems: commissioning, examples of storage and conveyor systems
  • Safety Technology: light barriers and curtains, sensitive mats, safety fences and labelling
  • System planning: planning reasons and goals, phases of planning
  • Material flow planning: introduction, describing and evaluation factors, flow- and throughput calculation, cycle time calculation, performance rating calculation, queue and waiting period calculation, analysis of complex material flow systems
  • System planning simulation: Example of a system planning process

Competencies / intended learning achievements

The students will be able to
  • reproduce the basic terms of conveyor and storage technology.
  • characterise conveyor auxiliaries as well as possibilities of encoding and identification.
  • classify and compare continuous and non-continuous conveyors.
  • describe different types of storage and commissioning systems.
  • name elements of safety technology.
  • describe the planning process of logistics systems.
  • solve tasks regarding material flow calculation.
  • describe examples of the application of simulations.
