Competencies / intended learning achievements

1. Lecture:

Students are able to

  • reflect the legal requirements for the product development of apparatus
  • reflect the safety requirements of apparatus in accordance with the pressure equipment directive 2014/68/EU
  • explain the construction elements of apparatus and plant engineering
  • explain the basics of the strength calculation or the design of the most important construction elements
  • reflect the design guidelines for apparatus
  • reproduce materials, manufacturing and audit methods for apparatus

2. Exercise:

Students are able to

  • independently calculate the basic components of apparatus and systems, such as shells, bottoms, nozzles, flanges, etc. under static and dynamic stress
  • analyze pressure vessels with regard to their hazard potential in accordance with the pressure equipment directive 2014/68/EU
