- Intermediate medium (lubricating oils, greases, solid lubricants, lubricant selection)
- Lubrication conditions (hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, elasto-hydrodynamics)
Competencies / intended learning achievements
The students are able to
- analyze tribological systems
- assign tribological significance to surface parameters
- identify tribological stress conditions in any system
- name friction and wear mechanisms
- select lubricants
- perform basic calculations to estimate contact pressure, temperature distribution and lubrication gap height
