  • Intermediate medium (lubricating oils, greases, solid lubricants, lubricant selection)
  • Lubrication conditions (hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, elasto-hydrodynamics)

  • analyze tribological systems
  • assign tribological significance to surface parameters
  • identify tribological stress conditions in any system
  • name friction and wear mechanisms
  • select lubricants
  • perform basic calculations to estimate contact pressure, temperature distribution and lubrication gap height
