Contents

  • Construction of reaction apparatuses for inorganic and organic chemistry and chemical process engineering
  • Execution of single-stage syntheses (inorganic, organic) using typical techniques (heating, cooling, stirring, introduction of gases, working with negative and positive pressure)
  • Methods for preparation and reaction control of the syntheses (filtration, crystallization, distillation, sublimation, extraction and distribution, adsorption, thin-layer chromatography)
  • Characterization of the manufactured products
  • Material balance of chemical reactions and reactor characterization (e.g. residence time behavior of chemical reactors)
  • Storage of chemicals and proper disposal of waste

Competencies / intended learning achievements

The graduates of the internship know further scientific basics of chemical and process engineering laboratory work, have practical skills and a deep understanding of the handling of chemicals. The graduates can apply their knowledge of chemical substances, are able to carry out more complex chemical experiments and analyze the results of the experiments using the methods of the subject. They are able to observe, evaluate and document chemical experiments objectively. On the basis of the practical knowledge acquired, they are able to classify facts and topics in chemistry and process engineering in a professional manner.
